Recycled glass blast abrasive

Clean surfaces.
No crystalline silica.

ECOGLASIX is an angular blast abrasive crushed and graded from 100% recycled flat glass. Glass is amorphous, so the grit is made without the crystalline silica that makes quartz sand a health risk.

Quality

Why the silica in glass is different

Glass is rich in silicon dioxide, but in an amorphous, non-crystalline form. The health risk in abrasive blasting comes from respirable crystalline silica, which the EU classifies as a carcinogen under Directive (EU) 2017/2398.

We publish both measurements so you can see the difference: total SiO₂ by XRF, and crystalline silica by XRD.

Like any abrasive, glass grit creates dust during blasting. Standard respiratory protection and dust extraction still apply.
